Lesson Plans

Lesson Plan #1

Objective: The purpose of this period of  instruction is to teach the student to be familiar with the preoperative checks and controls of this vehicle. How to use proper steering methods such as hand over hand or push pull also backing out from a parked position and why we need to use the turn signal. The students will also be given basic on the road instruction, targeting, reference points and their will be an evaluation of the individual student skill level. The student will then properly park and apply parking brake and exit the vehicle. Parents 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #2

Objective: This lesson plan will teach the student to be familiar with (SIPDE) search, identify, predict, decide and execute process. Lane management. They will then learn the signs, their meanings and where they are located along the sides of the roadways. The student will be instructed on how to make a two point turn about by backing into a driveway for the purpose of changing direction. The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parents 4hrs

 

Lesson Plan #3

Objective: At the end of this period of instruction the student will have learned the proper speed and lane management to maneuver the vehicle along the curves and turns of the roads while also directing attention to the warning signs and suggested speeds for those turns.  The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parents 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #4

Objective: The purpose of this teaching period is to learn proper navigation, the student will be able to navigate their given routes by utilizing signs and markers to find their way. The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parents 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #5

Objective: This lesson plan will focus on teaching the student  how to properly manage their speed as the vehicle maneuvers up and down hills and curves without excessive braking while also paying attention to the speed and reduce speed signs. The students will also learn the reasoning behind the locations of the speed reduction signs. The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parents 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #6 

Objective: At the end of this period of instruction the student will have learned how to merge safely onto the highway, and how to get up to the proper speed to match that of the other highway users. They will also learn to prepare to exit the highway using the off ramps and not slowing their speed until they reach and enter the deceleration ramps. The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parents 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #7 

Objective: At the end of this period of  instruction the student will be able to navigate their way along a multiple lane highway by changing lanes, merging smoothly with traffic entering and exiting the highway and if possible over taking another vehicle. Choosing a safe following distance and staying out of other user blind spots and NO zones is important to the success of this drive. The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parent 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #8

Objective: At the end of this period of instruction the student will have learned how to navigate downtown and city traffic changing lanes, using one way streets; they will use signs ,signals and markers also working with other city street users such as pedestrians, bicyclist. The student will practice paying close attention to what is around the vehicle at all times, proper speed, following and stopping distances. The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parents 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #9  

Objective: To teach the proper parking skills for all four types; pull in , back in, angle and parallel parking.  How far  away from curb. Also what is legal and illegal parking. Which way the tires should be pointing. The student will then properly park the car and exit the vehicle. Parents 4 hrs

 

Lesson Plan #10

Objective: At the end of this period of  instruction  the student will review all material covered during the previous periods of instruction. They will also be given a chance to review and take notes from the instructor during a discussion of previous material. The student will also be given an opportunity for individual questions if needed. They will then be given a mock state test which will allow them to asses how their level of competency, and help inform them if they are prepared for the state driving test.
